Ward Two - Shellie Severa
Shellie Severa was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She served honorably in the Air Force as a Flight Medic assigned to the Flight Surgeon’s office while on active duty. Prior to her current position with the Department of Defense, she served as the Military Liaison Officer/Grants Writer/Special Assistant to the Fairbanks North Star Borough Mayor and was instrumental in developing the community partnership program involving military bases in the Interior of Alaska and community leaders. She was the Chairman of the nine-member commission for Animal Control. She has served as a Veteran Service Representative for over 9 years with the Veterans Administration and is passionate about helping her fellow veterans navigate through the benefits process. She is a retired police dog trainer/handler and previously served as the Secretary of the Air Force Association for the Alaska Chapter.
Shellie is very community oriented and believes that great things can be achieved through teamwork, dialogue, listening, learning, and joint problem solving. "As the council member for the City of Fernley, I will be responsive to the needs of our citizens and maintains excellent customer service standards. From my many years in local government, I believe that I bring the needed experience, the motivation to do the job and a balanced view that is needed in my position. I will perform my duties with integrity and with a broader vision of what is in the interests of the overall community of Fernley, now and in the future. Some of my main concerns are infrastructure within the City, safety of our residents and roads."

Elected to Office
Councilwoman Shellie Severa was appointed to the City Council on February 27, 2020 by City Council and took the oath of office at the March 4, 2020 Fernley Council meeting. Her term expires in December 2020.
