Councilman Dan McCassie was elected to the City Council in November 2012 and was sworn in on December 5, 2012, taking his seat on the Fernley City Council as the Councilman representing Ward Two. His term expires in December 2016.
The McCassie family came to Fernley from Reno when I was 6 years old. After graduating from Fernley High School, I joined the Army National Guard. I spent 12 years in the Guard, during that time I started a career in sales and loans in the pawn industry. I have been in the business for over 26 years, 15 of which include running my own pawn business. I have three children that attend Fernley schools and are involved in youth sport programs.
Goals and Vision
I have seen Fernley grow from a small town of 3,000 people to a city of over 19,000 residents. With that growth came some challenges, both good and bad. I will take into account lessons learned by the City in the past and apply them to our community's future. Growth is good if it's steered in a positive direction and can pay for itself, without looking to others to pay more. As a City Councilman I will work to improve the following areas:
Attracting Jobs and Business Opportunities
Keeping Taxes Low
Quality of Life in Fernley and the State of Nevada
