Primary Election: early voting 5/25-6/7* and election date 6/11
General Election: early voting 10/19-11/1* and election date 11/5

*except on Sundays and holidays

All voting will take place at City of Fernley, City Hall

City of Fernley elections

Council Seats Open for Election - Ward 2, 4 and 5

Candidate filing period: Monday March 4th at 8:00 am - Friday March 15th at 5:00 pm

Candidate filing fee: $25.00 payable in cash, cashier's check or certified check

Qualifications - NRS 266.215
1. One year of residency in the City of Fernley
2. Thirty days of residency in the ward for which filing is being submitted

Filings must be submitted electronically. To begin a candidacy filing online please visit the Secretary of State's Candidacy Filing Page.
Once the filing has been completed, the City Clerk's Office will administer the oath and collect the filing fee. Candidates need to bring their driver's license or ID card with current address, for identification.

Voter Registration 

Same-day registration is available on Election Day.

To register to vote online please visit registertovotenv.gov. Voter Registration forms are available in the City Clerk’s Office, Department of Motor Vehicles Offices, or the Lyon County Clerk / Treasurer’s Office in Yerington. Registration forms can be completed and dropped off at the City Clerk’s Office in Fernley or mailed to:

Eligibility 

To register to vote in Lyon County a person must meet the following requirements:

  • Actually, physically, and legally reside in Lyon County
  • Be a United States citizen
  • Have attained the age of 18 years old by election day
  • Provide official identification as proof of residence and identity, such as a driver’s license or other official document
  • Provide social security number, Nevada driver’s license number, or Nevada identification card number
