Report Graffiti

There are many avenues to report graffiti and to help keep our City graffiti free:

• Call 775.575.3383 to have a Sheriff’s Officer come to your house and take a report if the suspects are seen, known, or if there is a witness.
• Call Secret Witness at 775.322.4900 to remain anonymous. You will receive a reward if the information you provided results in the conviction of graffiti vandals. For more information, visit the Secret Witness of Northern Nevada website.
• Call the City of Fernley Graffiti Hotline at 775.784.9820 to report graffiti within the City of Fernley City limits or complete our online graffiti reporting form. Remove any graffiti on your property immediately.

Victim of Graffiti Vandalism

• Do not attempt to apprehend the suspect.
• Call 775.575.3383 to have a Sheriff’s Officer come to your house and take a report if the suspects are seen, known, or if there is a witness.
• Get a good description of the suspect and vehicle involved, and the location.
• If you have no information pertinent to the crime, you should still report it, so that the Sheriff can take photos of the graffiti vandalism for future prosecution.

Stop Graffiti

• Form a Neighborhood Watch. For more information, contact the Lyon County Sheriff’s Dept at 775.575.3350, or visit the National Sheriff’s Association website.
• Make sure your child is not a graffiti vandal.
• Report it and work with the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office if you know of someone guilty of graffiti vandalism.

Remove Graffiti

• Keep paint readily available.
• Use matching paint so you don't leave a canvas for them.
• Use methyl ethyl ketone on glass, or previously painted metal surfaces.
• Use graffiti remover on glass, unpainted metal surfaces, or brick or block walls, you must scrub with soap and water, too, and always wear rubber gloves.
