The Nevada Rural Housing Authority (NRHA) provides rental assistance to low-income families through the federally funded Housing Choice Rental Assistance program.
Our rental assistance program increases affordable housing choices for very low-income households by allowing families, elderly, and disabled persons to choose privately owned rental housing. In addition to rental subsidies, we also provide security deposit assistance.
Three ways to apply for rental assistance:
Currently, our rental assistance waiting list is open with an approximate waiting period of 18 to 24 months. Eligibility is determined by the family’s gross annual income and is different in each County. Once your eligibility is determined and you have reached the top of the waiting list, you will be sent a letter to attend a briefing.
Once you are on the program, you will be assigned an occupancy specialist / caseworker who you will contact for any changes to your file, such as income and family changes in your household.
Note: If you are renting from a landlord who accepts section eight you will not have preference over other applicants. We assist applicants based on the date and time the application was received in our office.
