Please see the following message from Mayor Roy Edgington regarding the upcoming primary election.
Hello Fernley, this is your Mayor, Roy Edgington with an important update related to the upcoming election.
The primary election is scheduled for June 9th.
For the safety of all Nevadans, and as a temporary measure to help slow the spread of the coronavirus, the 2020 Nevada primary election will be entirely conducted through mail-in ballots.
Be sure your voter registration is up to date by May 21st, that is the last day to make changes to your registration in order to participate in the June 9th primary election. Only active registered voters will receive a ballot for this primary. To make changes go to www.registertovotenv.gov.
Ballots should have already arrived in mailboxes, each county sends ballots on their own timeline. All active and registered voters should receive their ballot in the mail by May 16th.
May 23 - June 5: Early Voting - much like in past primary elections, there will be an early voting period - no need to wait until June 9 to vote. In fact, you can return your completed ballot by mail anytime after you receive it.
Here are a couple more key dates: June 2nd is the deadline to request a replacement ballot. If you need a replacement mail-in ballot, contact your county voter office prior to June 2nd.
The Lyon County Clerk’s Office to use for election/voting information can be reached at 775-463-6501.
June 9th is the deadline to mail in your completed ballot. Your completed ballot must be postmarked by June 9, 2020, in order to be received and counted in this primary election.
We currently have three City Council seats up for election, for Wards 2, 4, and 5. Your voice matters. This is your opportunity to make your voice heard in your community.
Thank you for your time, and I hope you continue to stay safe and healthy.
